I was told an interesting story by the owner of the pet store we deal with for about 95% of our pet needs. You know the mom and pop type of store friendly people will bend over backwards for customers.

Well here's the story, he purchased 2 crested gecko's from this poor woman who's kid wanted a pair of lizards as pets. Now these were their first lizard pets, the place she went to sold the crested gecko's as good starter pets. This place even goes so far as to get their customers to sign a contract dealing with pet returns, pricing, and payment schedules among other items. So after all is said and done, the 2 crested gecko's and the setup they charged her from $500 to $600 dollars. She talked to the owner of the pet store we deal with and they could've gotten the same setup for $200 to $250 but couldn't back out of the deal due to signing the contract.

This is the same place that was charging $90 for a female collared lizard, the reasoning for the huge cost for the collared, "really good lizard stock." Now to my point, it doesn't seem that either the store didn't know or care to explain what a 'good' starter lizard is and be economical about it.
