Question???

THESNAKEDEN Feb 19, 2008 03:40 AM

I had brought this up in a previous thread which got long and possibly lost in the middle.
My girl just defecated. It wasn't very lg. but non the less she went. Can A girl who is going on 6weeks POS defecate while being gravid. I probably shouldn't say can a girl, I should probably say does this usually happen?
Thanks
Ralph
My other two girls have not gone since gravid. Actually I have a girl due on Friday and woke up this morning to find the waxy stool.

I'm in the same situation with my albino arabesque female. I bred her with my proven dominant ghost male she went into a long shed and then shed on november 13th. Since then she has'nt acted like she was gravid but I have her due date somewhere around february 28th. My ghost lost all interest in her so I assumed she must be gravid but in the last few weeks I've given up on that. My other females are staying curled up in the HCP and doing their thing. My females may deposit some urates through out the pregnancy but rarely defecate. It would be nice to have some quad hets but I may have to wait until next year.

Sometimes my girls defecate while gravid, but its usualy a very small amount. A few years ago though I noticed my pink pastel female with her tail up and thought she was about to give birth so I sat and watched for about 15 min, and she took a huge crap. Because of that I then thought she might not have been gravid, but two weeks later she had a nice litter of 18 healthy babies.

Just because a boa is pregnant, doesn't mean they don't poop or pass urates.

If your boas continue to eat after their POS, they will poop.

If your boas ate before their POS, they will poop.

If your boas pooped after their last meal, they will still poop.

If your boas drink, they will pass urates.

It takes time for a boa to "clear out" all that they have eaten. Sometimes they do a big poop and sometimes they'll do several smaller ones. Even if they do a HUGE poop, that doesn't mean they've pass everything that's still in there. Boas continue to drink so, they will also continue to pass urates while pregnant.

So, don't worry if your boas poop or pass urates while pregnant. It's a sign that their doing what comes naturally.

Thanks for your reply guys. Up until this point I didn't think my girl was gravid. Now that she relieved the swelling in the vent area by passing this small poop, I can now notice the mid body swelling much more, oh I'm so friggin happy. One day I think one way, the next day I think the other way. I'm now convinced she's got babies brewing.
She's thermoregulating regularly and shes been on the heat all day and shooting a 91.
Thanks
Ralph
