General info about Yellow Throated Plasted Lizard......

JustinM. May 22, 2003 09:13 PM

Hi! I have 2 yellow throated plated lizards. One is rescued and the other I bought from Xtreme Reptiles (bad idea; more like xtremely thin reptiles...LOL). Both were in terrible condition when I got them. However, I have fattened them up and they are very active and alert lizards. I have never come across their basic information and I would like to know ther latin name, habitat type, native range(s) and any other pertinent information. Thank you to everyone that replies!

Hi,

could you post pics?
In recent times the yellow throated plated lizard (Gerrhosaurus flavigularis)is mixed up a lot with its close relative, Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus-which in fact seems to be trade more often these days.
BTW: The Pic above this forum shoows the latter species.
And: If theres any red or significant yellow at the throat or lips of your lizard, than its flavigularis (and a male).
If it has reddish flanks with whitish small dots, its nigrolineatus.
Bt post a Pic-than I´ll provide you with more specific information.
