Breeding the white albino corn - Slemmer

JFDery Feb 20, 2008 11:30 AM

Hi, I'm looking for this article by G. Slemmer published in the 1973 Eastern Seaboard Herpetological League newsletter.

Breeding the White Albino Cornsnake

Does anybody have it or know how to get in touch with the organization (if it still exists)?

If so, you can reply here or by e-mail.

Thanks in advance

Jean

Jimmy,

The fourth link down shows the Bechtels article (Heredity of Pattern Mutation in the Corn Snake) which cites Slemmer. Is that what you are talking about? What I'm looking for is Slemmer's article. I do appreciate your effort to help me out.

Thanks, JF

Hey, Jimmy, what is a white albino corn? Is it the same as a "snow" corn? Is there anything called a "leucistic corn?" The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to i.d. a white ratsnake (obsoletus) and I don't know if the white means albino or leucistic? Thanks for any help...

Terry

the white albino "corn" would have to be a snow (amel/aneryA) or blizzard (amel/aneryB)
there are no luecistic corns.
I wasn't really sure what the original poster was looking for so I just did my best to find the article.
We could have probably answered any questions they may have had here on the forum

Slemmer's article is the among the first (if not THE first)published data on breeding the double recessive mutation anery and amel (the snow corns, which he calls the white albino). I'm interested in the article itself for the historical aspect, just because I like to read those kind of papers. I'm not looking for information on how to breed snows, I'm just looking for the article. I haven't heard of any leucism occurrence in corn snakes either.
