mating question

raidersmith Feb 20, 2008 05:01 PM

Do different sub-species of Box turtles mate? For example, would a 3-toed and an eastern mate together and lay eggs? i haqve both, and only now they seem large enough to mate. Another question, i don't hibernate them, would that be a problem?

Yes, they are all quite capable of interbreeding. If you have a mature male and female kept together, they will eventually breed, regardless of whether they hibernate.

I agree.

You may get less fertile eggs if they aren't properly cycled, but they can still reproduce.
