Here's an updated pic of my 06 male. My 06 het female is right behind him in size. Both are chowing down on adult mice. I have a few 06 corns, and none of them are even close to how robust my emoryi are. Steve

Steve,..
I like those "real deal" emoryi! especially when you figure in all the other "so-called" morphs of different species/ssp. that have gotten their genetic influence from another morph already established in the hobby.
I'm very glad their amel trait is NOT compatible with cornsnakes for many reasons.

Thanks Doug. I've always been a big fan of emoryi. Normals as well as albinos. Here's an older pic of my het female. She has greenish saddles on a silverish background, along with the classic ghost/scream mask on the back of her head.

Man!,...that "scream" mask thing is funny as all heck!
Nice looking het you have there too!

Steve, I love your albino Emory's and would like to get some one of these days. If you have a list started, can you put me as close to the top as poss? Mucho gracias!
Do you have any background info on those guys, like where the ancestral stock came from? Give me a holler, if you've got time...Terry

You got it Terry. That would be no problem. As far as background info. here's a little for you.
The albino male came from Dennis McNamara from Crazy Fools Reptiles out of Virginia. I can find out from Dennis where his stock originates. The Het female came from Jim Sargent from Split Rock Reptiles out of Texas. I can find out from Jim as well, a more detailed history, on his stock.

Thanks a bunch, Steve. You know me. I always like to have as much info as I can get when I start a new line.
BTW, I would probably cross your albino line with one of my Emory's lines, as well as keeping it pure, to get an albino, generic line going. Of course that would take lots of time, so I'd be interested in homozygous albinos more than the hets.
So far I've only been working with locality morphs and don't have any mutation morphs. I also might try to start a locality line for Northern Emory's Ratsnakes, Pantherophis (Elaphe) emoryi emoryi, as I only have "intermontanus" and "meahllmorum" lines right now.
Do you happen to keep any locality of Northern Emory's?
PS: I think the original amel emoryi came from Kansas, but there might be more than one amel line. I'm not sure on that.
Have a good one..cheers..TC

Yes, that's right, the original amel emoryi line was started from wild caught stock from Kansas. Don Soderberg was the first to produce the amel emoryi in captivity. As I understand, Don later sold his entire emoryi collection to "KJUN" who frequents the cornsnake forum. I do know that Don has some 2007 amel. emoryi, as well as some Kisatchi's on his website right now.
I don't think there are any other amel lines other than those either, but don't quote me on that. Those first amel offspring that Don produced probably weren't available until around 2000 maybe, because they were available in 2003 for around $350.00 dollars I know.

Doug, thanks for the extra info. I may have known that Don had them back then, but it takes time for ideas to take shape too. If I recall, at that time I was unsure if they were pure emoryi. I also didn't want to work with Northern Emory's back then. Now that's not an issue.
I actually got some snakes from Don in 2003. Here's one of the reverse-striped, P. e. meahllmorum, I got from him....

I also got 1.2 Brazos Island ratsnakes from him. I'll probably cross the amel into one of these lines.
Later...TC

Glad you found the info somewhat useful. I GUARANTEE that you weren't the only one that questioned the purity back then(me included)..LOL!.....I'm very glad to see that their amel genetics is NOT compatible!
By the way,....that's a great looking animal you posted!

Nice emory Steve. Emorys really stand out as albinos. Randy
Thanks Randy. Hope to see you at Chantilly later this year.

Hey Steve,
looking good.
I hope to produce a few this season.
If they turn out as nice as that I will definitely be happy.
I like the darker look as opposed to the pale yellow look.

I've seen some albino emoryis that are a pale yellow and I've seen some that are a richer darker yellow (almost orange).
Like every morph there can be varience and with the albino emoryis I just think the darker specimens look better.

Yeah, that's cool! I was wondering if you meant something like that. I remember when the albino Emory's started coming out that they were pretty light colored and not as nice as some of the albino corns. We may have even talked about that when discussing the making of new creamsicle lines. I'm not sure I've seen a darker albino, like you're describing, however. Don't happen to have a pic, do ya?
Thanks....TC
