Male vs. Female

cyrus7 Feb 20, 2008 10:10 PM

Is there any difference in the temperment of balls? I know the female is usually protective of her eggs, but other than that how do they compare? I'm new to ball pythons but I've raised and kept geckos for over 8 years, and am deciding to broaden my herp keeping. Any suggestions/advice on the sexes would be appreciated.

io have quite a few of both and to me it seems females are nicer. but most people say that they are the same.

I would say go with a female.
reason #1 You may decide to breed in a few years.
reason #2 If you ever want to get rid of your snake. Females are much easier to find new homes.

Thanks for your input. What you said about breeding makes a lot of sense, as I always dive into complex breeding projects. I'll post pics when I find her.
