Both of those geckos are underweight by a significant amount, the tails should be proportional and they are not. If you are considering breeding at all, then they are seriously underweight. You should try offering more food or a different variety if they aren't eating well. Remember to gut load and dust with both calcium and minerals. Keep your temps high enough to promote digestion and all should be good. They are hardy animals afterall.

They are not underweight in my opinion. People tend to think that leopard geckos must be obese. And that´s not healthy! Obesity can cause many problems:
-prolapse of pelvic organs
-liver disease
-joint problesm
-gout, etc..

Oh, I have seen poor obese geckos in the past, sometimes they seem even more sad than their underweight counter parts.
One of the best way to tell is, probably experience based, but the tail must be proportional to the body mass. Because these lizards naturally store their fat in their tail, we aren't looking for a tail to look like an anole, but instead something just beginning to bulk out and the ridges expanding. I've heard such examples as the thickness of a working man's thumb, but that's subjective too... read through a few sites with adults for sale, you'll see a wide range of healthy or not geckos, but I doubt anyone reputable breeder would ship so underweight.

Sleepy, I'm starting to wonder about your monitor settings....
Those leos are prob on the low side of ideal weight, but not by much. I've done several rescues, and I'd rate those 2 as good body condition. Less than 10 more grams (tho its hard to tell proportional size from those pics) apeice and they would rate at ideal body condition in my book. I will agree that they should not be breed until late in the season, if not next season.

I guess my evaluation fits somewhere in between yours and sleepy's. I think they probably could stand to put on a little bit more than 10 grams, but definitely if they're headed in the right direction already as the OP says, I'm not worried about their future. I'd hold off on breeding them until they've got that 10 or 15 grams put on though, if breeding is even the intent.

Well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Our experiences are obviously different and can't be settled here. I only wish I had a picture of my current girl's full body to better explain what I mean, as well as the tail on the one we had to rescue from obesity for comparison. Maybe next time. May I suggest Urban Gecko's breeders site for some more full bodied geckos? Sunglows are one of my favorites.
