A few pictures from tonight...Samson!!!! are you looking???? Here is your bluestar

Johne Aug 27, 2003 06:57 PM

First off, I'd like to share this filter sand bred lizard...this guy will ship out to Samson within the next couple weeks. I haven't told him I raised my prices since last talking with him. Just kidding, Joe.

Next is another picture of LauraLSU's "now subadult" male...he is shedding his tail skin now, and is showing the start of some light blue..how cool!

Ok...next is a pile on of lizards...this is my male Azul, females Sammie, Bernie, and Sienna...Bernie is on bottom with very little of her showing.

Next is just the two recently dug up females...they were trying to hibernate, although the temps have been in the 90's...perhaps they estivate???

A single picture of Sammie...looking up at me, waiting for some new crispy filter sand (no doubt).

And last, but surely not least...this is Azul. He's looking nice and blue, but getting a little skinny. He's been slowing down for the season already. Don't know if I will breed him or just let Chili have all the ladies next year...just have to wait and see what lies ahead...

Hope you enjoy the pics...it sure took forever to do!!!!!

The bluestar lizards are pretty much black and white when they hatch..why do you think they call them bluestars? LOL The will gradually turn light blue as they mature.

Thanks,

John

It all depends on the size...I've seen yearlings grow so large, that they breed the next season with no trouble at all. It all depends on their size. they can breed at smaller sizes, but they won't produce as many, and often times eggs are infertile. I seen that happen with my little Spice. She laid three eggs (with effort), and none of them were fertile.

The aquaflame males I have, will likely be breeding size by Spring time...can almost guarantee it. My bluestar male is a bit small, and will probably need another year.

I wish I had more to offer this year (shut up, Eve) in the way of female bluestars. I'll try to reserve you one from Mike M. if he breeds them next season.

Hey, project Idea! Someone should try to breed a line of black and white (mostly white) collareds! That would be cool. Hey, about sand man, I've got mine on Fort Sill Army sandbag sand! (From the Whichita mountains.) She's STILL gravid. Never faded!
