Opinions please: Hypo or extreme Pastel?

Morgans Boas Feb 21, 2008 09:25 PM

While taking the risk of over-posting this guy, I'm curious what you think he is.
As you know, he was bought as a non-hypo, but is the sibling of terrific Hypos, and doesn't look like his Hypo littermates (any of them).

In an earlier post of him, someone thought that he may be a Hypo, and so now I'm wondering what everyones opinion is on him. Please be honest, nothing is going to hurt my tender heart. His first breeding will be to something that is non-Hypo. I'm thinking that I should save up for a female Motley for him.

Thanks for sharing - here he is

and some siblings (not my pics)

thanks again

not a hypo, but an AMAZING looking pastel. Would look phenomenal crossed w/ a motley.

Good luck and congrats on such a great find!

Looks like an EXCEPTIONAL Pastel.

Really Top Notch.

I think the black rings around his tail blotches give it away.

Gorgeous animal I would also have to agree with everyone else.
But on another note you shoule try him with a Het Alb or Alb.Theres just some the fishy with them eyes. I keep thinking back to Jeff's theory on Het Alb marker and that ones eyes just pop.Do you know the parents genetics?

Morgans Boas Feb 22, 2008 11:28 AM

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I do know about the het albinos having a "light" eye, and having produced hets, I can agree that their is something to look for, but I think that this is different, and is a result due to his lack of black pigment and silvery sides. Their are no traces of Albino for two generations on this guy. Their are non-hets out their with some real cool eyes as well.
Thanks again.

May be the nicest "normal" I have ever seen, but I say no to Hypo.

Really nice high pink normal! (not a hypo, as mentioned, the black borders around the tail saddles are the give away.) I really like the reduced pigment around the saddles... deff. a nice pick-up! Post pics as it gets bigger, I'm curious what it'll turn out like.
