This past weekend I purchased a 4 ft american alligator at the Columbus Reptile Show. He is in great health, and is very well tempered. The only problem is he wont eat. I thought maybe it was temperature so i increased his pond temp to about 85 and i double checked his basking spot at 97. Still he wont eat. I have tried live rats, thawed rats, chicken, turkey, and fish. He doesnt even look interested in any of them. The only thing i can think of now is maybe its because he is still getting used to me and his new surroundings. Is this normal for a young gator when he is moved? or am i doing somthing wrong? any advice would be great thanks guys!
