Baja (Nitida) Behavior & Observations

Ameron Feb 22, 2008 02:59 PM

From the set of posted photos from a Nitida thread awhile ago, it seems that:

1) Males more commonly lack the lower, white, side stripes. Or at least theirs are less prominent.

2) Females tend to have the side stripes more often, or they are more prominent.

3) Aberrant patterns, and side blotches, are very common. What seems to be rare are solid black bodies with a perfect, unbroken stripe.

Anyone have both sexes, or several individuals, and care to comment? What have you learned from Nitida behavior & observations?

I'm interested in both locale-unique coloration, patterns & behavior.

(Mark & Kim Bell, please share your comments as Baja breeders.)

I'd love to be able to add more to your info, than what I gave on your last post. I'm still on the waiting list for a male. Do Nitida and Conjuncta seem to be tougher to get started on rodents than other Cal King locales?

Not that I've heard. I ordered mine from:

Ben Siegel Reptiles
2245 W Hillsboro Boulevard
Deerfield Beach, FL 33442
954.427. 8222

He sent an exceptional male hatchling with almost no side patterns, just as I'd requested.

Mine has always eagerly taken mice, two lizards species and a Garter snake once. Every now & then he's fickle, but within days he feeds again.
