jeffb Feb 22, 2008 06:22 PM

TP & W has forwarded me a digital copy of the poster they are planning on posting at tomorrows NARBC show in Arlington.

The file is in Adobe Acrobat format so you will need to have Acrobat installed to open it.

Do you think that will put a damper on the show?

I watched the game wardens walk around at the beginning of the show. They first began walking around to the vendor booths and seemed to be quickly looking over all the snakes to see if the vendor had any of the 5 taxed species. After a few moments it was quite apparant they had no clue what the 5 species even look like and began handing the flyers out to every vendor. I wonder what type of training the game wardens will have to detect the 5 taxed species or will every snake longer than 6 or 7 feet be a potential target for harrassment from them?

That says it all. They are "GAME Wardens". They are not "NON-GAME Wardens".

The permit dates on the posters are wrong. My sources at TP&W say maybe by June but probably Sept. Hybrids are also listed on the poster but not in the original law. I don't believe they can do that.

They have been known to add a few inches to things in the past.

And, know you can not enforce a law that is not on the books... at least that is what I was raised to believe as an American.

I've had wardens from other states tell me I, as a non-resident purchasing the applicable non-resident permits, could not catch herps.

That is the issue when you have a few good-ol-boys as a link in the chain.... Sometimes they make stuff as they go.

Now I am not trying to say that all LE are the good-ol-boy types, but without any doubt three are always a few in the ranks.
