I just took my girl to the vet and she has pinworms and crypto something (he said it was a parasite) he gave her medicine for the pinworms and gave me this stuff called sulfa trim liquid for the parasites. my question is has anybody ever heard of sulfa trim and is it safe for me beardie? I've heard of parazap and panacur but not this stuff and was wondering if anybody else has ever used it. The vet is a reptile vet so im assuming he knows what he's doing but i've heard bad stories about people taking reptiles to the vet and getting the wrong medicine and stuff so i just want to make sure.

I'm not familiar with the uses of Sulfatrim liquid. I looked it up on the internet and it is an antibiotic. My advise is if you use it follow the treatment with a probiotic.

Dr. Wissman had an article about treating crypto in Reptiles magazine and mentioned a treatment that she feels is preferable to the trimethoprim sulfa that you were prescribed. Perhaps you could discuss this option with your vet. Here's the link to the article.

as long as the vet gave the right dosage sulfatrim is fine in most herps, have used it with great results in the past (on the advice of a herp vet) just becasue parazap is natural isnt going to make it safer, if you trust the vet, then use what he gave you how he prescribed it
