I just picked this guy up, about 4 days out of Guyana. 13 inches plus with a plastron that could hide a basketball. He does have some years under him, but I don't think he's as old as I first thought he was.

I don't know where these guys are coming from in Guyana, but this is the second shipment that males of this caliber have come in. These things are dripping in red, but uploading the pictures into the Kingsnake gallery really dulled alot of it. The group I had from last year went to Ed Ruby, so he should have some success with a male that was smaller, but had 2x the amount of red. The Females are average, but the males are spectacular. Not only red scales, but actual red shell color.
actually, it is not unusual for northern male redfoots to attain 12-13 inches, just maybe not the typical size for export,
sizes in the 16-18 inch range used to be common in Colombia - the real giants are in Paraguay, some well over twenty inches
