Experienced Breeder Question -Tri Colors

grnpanda Feb 23, 2008 10:16 PM

I have a pair of tri coloreds that were sold to me as a 1.1

I recently probed them and found that the "female" probed 6-7 scales, the "male" probed 11-12 scales. I am concerned because I am not used to females probing more than 3-4 scales on other species of snakes and now think I may have not been sold a true 1.1

I have also heard that males probe much deeper in this species so they may both be females. No one, however, has been able to give me approx scale counts (probe depths) for these awesome little guys.

If anyone could offer any insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

Robert, can you provide pics from vent to base of tail? I personally, have not probed mine, and rely on "popping" for the neonates because of their small size. Also maybe some profile pics of the heads. Some of us have a working theory that the head shape is a little different between males and females.

Real quick way to tell, is if they are breeding size, put them together. LOL, tricolors are like rabbits!
