Good News and Bad News

medyssa Feb 24, 2008 01:07 AM

Today was our main day of moving, which means that all of my critters have moved (and are all now in my small 9.5'X10' room). And of course, it was my worst move as far as how it went on my BRBs, but not all of it was bad, just bad timing for good things.

First of all, the good news, Cleo was finally able to push one of her "lumps" to her cloaca and I was able to help her squeeze it out, fortunately I caught her in time to keep her from doing this all over the new carpet! She passed a calcified slug, and still has one more to go but so far she has been resting since the event and I hope to get the other one out after a couple day's rest.

Second, I found today that Sango, my gorgeous high-orange male that I bought just a couple months ago wiggled his way to popping off the screen that covers a 100W Exoterra ceramic heater in his cage and wrapped himself around it and burned himself badly. He has a lot of blisters and is currently in shed, so I cannot tell the whole damage until after that. Fortunately I have antiseptic wash from when my mom's corn snake decided to cut himself on some mystery object and got an infection.
Either way, it looks like I will be taking at least one snake to the vet next week.

Lastly, more bad news, but not terrible, my baby Sable my '07 from Dave regurged a fuzzy mouse this evening, but seems to have been a bit dehydrated despite plenty of water in her cage prior to the move this morning. I gave her some earlier when I cleaned out the mess from her container and she was very thirsty. The silly girl will stay in her mini moss box all the time and never get water. She's showing a bit blue, so after she sheds and lets her stomach settle down I will try feeding her again in a couple weeks.

The best thing about this move: I live 5 minutes from Dave. :P

Hey Jess,

Glad to hear the move went more or less OK, Sounds like Cleo is working out her slug issues with your help

Sucks about Sango, to bad they're not smart enough to move away from intense heat. Hope all works out well. Hope it does not affect his ability to score with the ladies. Keep us posted!

Sable sounds like one of those things, not good but also not real bad. You're on the right track, let her rest end recover before feeding her a SMALL meal

LOL, best part....

BTW, in case y'all noticed, I was out for the week, skiing in Tahoe was awesome, got fresh powder two out of three days!! I actually like skiing while it's snowing, chases all the wimps off the slopes and leaves them wide open for me to downhill race at top speeds!!!

Yeah, I am planning on inviting you over to see my snake room soon, as soon as I get things all situated. The funny thing is that now all my snakes are literally in my room, so I shouldnt need to worry about being too cold for the rest of the winter. Summer will be another issue.
And yeah, Sable looks like she will be ok, she hasn't regurged before but I don't think I will have any issues. My juvi hognose female took Sable's cue and did the same thing, but she is notoriously a bad eater. My room smells gross, all the snakes have either pooped or puked all in the last 24 hours. Joy!
Thankfully my chameleon doesn't seem to have been affected by the move, which makes me really happy.
And I so wish I could be up in Tahoe stuck until Tuesday or something. That would be nice. I would stick it out through the snow to get some skiing in. I would probably be a lot better at it if people weren't always running over me.
Anyway, when things settle down I'll have you over. There's certainly not as much to see as your snake room. I am also planning a party for friends and family when the babies are born this spring. Mainly its my best excuse to have a party for no reason.

yeah good to hear everything went mostly good... glad to hear cleo is better, sounds like just a little more to pass and should be good huh.

as far as the regurge yeah its not good, but i doubt its something to get over worried about.

that sucks about sango, i love snakes but man i hate that they are that stupid. but on the good note a goregeous high color male even with a scar will still produce gorgeous babies! i hope everything turns out and good luck at your new place
