Day 109

THESNAKEDEN Feb 24, 2008 05:13 AM

Ahh, what's going on here. My first litter and she's late. Can't sleep, don't want to talk to my wife, and my kids are becoming annoying, all because this girl has decided to make me wait. This girl actually had a huge ovulation on 10/24, her POS was 11/8 and since, she's done everything right, except for reading the book(Jeff Ronne, about day 105. I know that 105 is an average, but day 109 is rediculous(lol).
Here she is this morning, anybody else out there have experience with litters going later?? Is this good, bad or indifferent??
Thanks,
Ralph

I'll bet SHE knows more about it than You or Jeff does. LOL

I have an Albino that made me wait till 114 days.

In my experience, no where near as much as Jeff, IO have found my boas almost always go over 105. They average almost 110, so now I actually count 110 for an expected date.

Thanks guys,
I feel better about the wait. Just hoping for a healthy litter. In anybodys past experience does going late instead of early or vice versa result in more slugs, less slugs or it doesn't neccessarily matter.
Thanks

going late means little or no yolk, which is awesome.

Ralph,

In my experience, counting 123 days from the ovulation is actually a way more acurate date. Not everybody sees the ovulation, but they do see the shed, so 105 is a good average if you miss the ovulation. I would place your girl due on 2/24 based on her ovulation. It is stressful to wait, but the longer the better.

Thanks Dave & Matt,
The less yolk the better, I like that, sounds like less to clean up.
