I've never heard of the orange dream, but I love the pattern. Do you mind sharing the story/info about that snake? I'm curious!

Thanks!

Hey Jenny,

This is a dominant mutation that started with a CH female I acquired in 2002. The original female bred for me in 2005 and I produced a pair that looked exactly like Mom. I have hatched out several since and I trying to determine if there is a Super form. They have a reduced, banded pattern with intense orange coloration and pastelish tails. Stay tuned...

Thanks so much for posting pics of the Orange Dream. I was wondering what they look like as adults. I'm thinking they might have a YB, fire, vanilla, effect when used in crosses? Who knows though, much to look forward to!

Oz Feb 24, 2008 12:19 PM

I produced a pair of these Yellow Belly Orange Dream crosses in 2006.

I am working this season to try and produce a Super (if it exists) and I am also crossing them into Pins, Spiders, Pastels and Ghosts. I think this gene will spice up a lot of the existing morphs and who knows what the Super will look like. I just hope I have better luck this year... I have been working this gene since 2002.

Thanks,
Oz

How's the Hyper Striper project going?

Oz Feb 24, 2008 12:31 PM

Hey Heather,

The Hyper Striper is breeding one of his daughters this season and I hoping to prove him genetic. I have two more of his daughters that just might go this season as well. Wish me luck!

I love this project!!! Such a HOT snake!!!

Fingers crossed for ya! Please post new pix when you gottem!

kinderman Feb 24, 2008 02:52 PM

Are the offspring visual, or is this a recessive project? I have a "Hyper Stryper" type female I am breeding hoping to prove. I am covering her with a Pewter thinking that she is likely dominant if she is in fact genetic, and that a double codom would have a better chance to have her make a combo. Of course , if she is dominant, then she should also reproduce "herself". They have locked just once. Oz, would you suggest a different codom and should I expect NOT to see a visual if I stick with the Pewter? Thanks for any advice/insights. I will post another/better pic of pair breeding.

Oz Feb 24, 2008 09:12 PM

It's recessive if anything! Similar looking morphs have proven NOT to be genetic, but I am hoping this is the exception.

Those are all gorgeous animals!

Not being on top of the Ball Python Market however, (I'm a chondro guy...please don't hold that against me) can anyone tell me what a Black Pewter would cost? (Approx price range)

Also, the one pictured, is that an above average specimen? Or do most look like that? I LOVE that animal!

I'm on top of the Albino Ball & Pied Ball Market, but I'm lost when it comes to the other morphs.

Thanks in advance!
Gary Schiavino

Oz Feb 24, 2008 09:14 PM

Hey Gary,

I love the chondros too! She is an exceptional Pewter and she's the result of a Black pastel to Pastel cross. There are several different lines of Black Pastels out there and they all have slightly different looks.
