black rat breeding

Idothatforme Feb 24, 2008 08:19 PM

I warmed my black rats up ealier this month, got them eating heavily ect. once they shed i placed them both in the same tank. I know for sure one is a male, but i am unsure what the other is. they both wraped around eachother, and both started biting eachother. i thought only the male did the biting, which led me to believe they are both males?? do females bite the male too?

I think you have a pair. Males don't normally bite during combat (that I know of). They would be wrestling, not wrapping, if they were males in combat. Watch for eggs!

It surprises me that some breeder's snakes will breed that fast. I move my snakes into a warmer room around the 10th of Feb and I never had a snake breed before the middle of March. Most breed from mid April to early May.
