ive been watching this savannah at a pet store here in texas and its sad to see him in the shape hes in but he lays in one spot all day, if you pick him up he doesnt bite at all or try to run. sometimes he lets his body limp in your hand. he wont even bite his food ive seen the employees have to pry his mouth open to give him some food and its just very sad to watch. i dont want you to tell me what to do to fix him because as much as i would love to try and make him better i think hes to far. they keep him in 100 degrees f. but they used to keep him in a 55 with a tree branch that measured 130 and he wouldnt do anything still so i think they gave up on him.

my question is what would you say was his problem just no will to live?
Eric

what the heck COULDN'T be a problem for a monitor, especially a savannah, in a pet store.

Thats so very sad, and so very common. As much as I know that happens commonly, I do not like to hear about it.

I guess what your asking is, could that animal be RESCUED and have a chance of a normal captive life. That I cannot say.

To answer your direct question, WHAT ANIMAL would want to live in those questions. Of course its losing the will to live. There is nothing there that it recognizes. Think about that. Think of all that you know, and have it all taken away, how would you feel?

ive just never seen a monitor in such a bad shape. i mean even the others in the store that are in the same condition will bite the crap out of you if you try to mess with them. he even has a 3 foot black throat in a wire cage that has had the same shed skin on his back for 4 months. and he still hisses and tries to bite when you mess with him. i was just curious if the problem could have been even farther then that. Cheers
