virgins laying cold?

masonna Feb 24, 2008 09:40 PM

today i was surprised to find one of my virgin het pied females coiled tightly around her water dish and was wondering if anyone else had ever noticed behavior like this. i realize it probably doesn't mean anything, but in 10 years, i have never seen anything like it.

I have seen this in females that have been cycled and are producing follicles. The follicles will mature until fertilized, reabsorbed, or slugged out. I bet if you palpate that girl she will have some good sized follicles growing inside her. If so it is the perfect time to introduce her to a male.

Reproductive behavior. .

I always assumed that mine did that because they're hot. My males do it too so I didn't associate it with breeding at all.
