true blue or "true green"

CHLAMYDOSAURUS Feb 25, 2008 08:55 AM

Last year in june I bought a young nosy be male, from a reputed breeder in the USA. it was only several month old, so yet bno colorful. By now ,he is approximately one year old and reach adult size, but he is not blue at all, only green with some red on the eye turrets. the breeders claim there are working many years with selective breeding to produce real true blue nosy be. the father was really a wonderfull and stunning blue. when I mailed them to complain, they told me than true blue sometimes reach their final coloration only at the age of 18 months...
any suggestions

thank you sandra, of course I love it for what he is , but I live in Israel and already have plenty of wild green common chameleons outside, and also have a lot of veiled, so I dreamed about having something really different and blue is really amazing!!!

Wow! Though I guess its sommon and nothing for you, I was thinking from my perspective how fabulous it would be to have wild ones around! I hope you guy does start to display more blue than green for you. I have mostly turquoise blue Nose Be panthers, but one of them does like to shine nearly sky blue. It's quite special. I'm also hoping to find a breeder locally of one of the red/yellow varieties. They are all so beautiful and interesting.

hi Sandra, I grew in eastern france, where the only wild herps I could see in the wild were some newts toad, frogs and lizards. when I move to Israel 24 years ago, and I soon caught my first "common chameleon", I was literally amazed. my passion for chameleons began in fact by keeping those common wild caught chameleons.9 YEARS AGO , A FRIEND OF MINE BROUGHT ME 2 PAIRS OF littie veiled and I began breeding them. this year, I did the next step and brought 5 panthers, I have also one pair of ambilobe, and the male is very very colorful, I hope the nosy be will become more colorful, when I will be able to keep them outside. by now it is still to cold even here in israel and I keep them inside , may be my Uv fluorescent bulb is not effective enough!!
