Need some help

kellybee Feb 25, 2008 12:07 PM

Hi all, sorry not been around much, have moved house four times since October and not had much internet access!! I've noticed my New mex female eating a lot more of late, possibly the weather, possibly she's just a little more settled.

Anyway, she's spent a day or two looking much plumper, but the gaping thing... when her mouth was wide open this afternoon I noticed she looked like she had chewed up crickets in the back of her mouth. On closer inspection with a torch, it looks like brown pigmentation, it's lumpy, and the roof of her mouth is milky bluish white. Is this normal, or do i get her to the vets? She seems perfectly healthy, I was just in the right place at the right time to see it..

Any advice gratefully recieved xx

Hi Kelly, The back of the throat does seem to look lumpy/ brownish, at the very back where the back of the tongue would be. Also the top or roof of the mouth is a bluish white

I have a pic I can send you if you need to see, lol. What is actually swollen?

Howdy Kell, 'collared mumps' do they exist???

I hope it all turns out to be benign.
