messed up feeding?

timbuktu Feb 25, 2008 02:04 PM

I have had my snake for a week now so I tried to feed it yesterday but I messed it up. I was using a thawed mouse of appropriate size heres what I did.

I thawed it out, then I laid it on top of her cage to pre scent it. 15 minutes later I cam back and she was out of her hide and looking at the mouse. so I took my tongs and grabbed the mouse held it a few inches away from her. She struck at it and missed and I accidentally dropped the mouse right next to her. she for some reason could smell it but not see it(not hot enough maybe?) and I couldn't get close enough to get it because she could strike me if she wanted to. so I left it for a while and she never ate it then I decided to take the mouse out and I think I scared her.

so my question is should I try to feed her again today(first time yesterday) or should I wait a week or what? any help would be great her initial feeding response was great and I hope I don't mess her up. thank you.

Go ahead and feed him. Sounds like he is ready to eat something. Don't get your mouse to hot. Your skin is 94 deg. if the mouse feels warm. It is hot. You just want it to not feel cold any where. Good luck and have fun. (It's dinner time)
