Blaze: Before and After

BoaGal Feb 25, 2008 03:53 PM

Here are some before and after pictures of Blaze. Thanks for suggesting this, Dave. I didn't realize how much he's healed.

These first two pictures were taken December 18, 2007. That was a few days after his injury.

These two were taken February 20, 2008 just after he shed.

I thought it was a lot worse but could not find the older pics. Thanks for showing them all together and keep us posted on his progress. They do heal very slowly so will be a long time.

Are you using any antibiotics on him to prevent infection?

Also, should go without saying but, a pristine cage with NO "substrate" is definitely in order. Just paper liners, nothing to get into the healing wound.

What kind of antibiotics can you put on a snake?

Thanks

Rachel,
..Always a good idea to use antibiotic ointment on a would like that. Though that one is not infected. It has nice granulation. It looks like it is healing very nicely but it will leave a scar.

Yowza, that looks like it was painful! I'm glad he is on the mend. Please keep taking pictures as he heals. It will be interesting to see the entire process.
