As long as he keeps trying you are looking good. It can take a few months sometimes. Best of luck.

Do you know who produced those 2, or have any other background info on them? Any other individual pics of them? Best of luck with them. Nick
The female is a DM exotics animal. and the male i dont have any background on. Hes a classic peruvian with a great red tail. i'll look for some more pics. on my way to work now though.
heres the male.

Those look very similar to a line that I use to work with that goes back allot of years " does not mean that they are and I would not know without background on them. " As far as copulation, you can never witness copulation and see the female ovulate and later have a nice litter of viable babies and then you may witness several copulations and never see the female ovulate and not get anything and several other versions. Typically, I have seen copulations and ovulations happen in the spring between; May and end of July. Exceptions of course to every rule, but with Peruvians especially it has more times than not shown; " they are Spring and early Summer Ovulaters. " In the end; " Witnessed copulations are a great indicator that the female should sooner or later ovulate, but unfortunately I have seen breedings in the past were there were several copulations and never any ovulation. " Typically, most copulations will start occuring more frequently around; March and April. If the female does not ovulate by the middle part of July at the latest, it usually will result in nothing and she will more than likely not ovulate at all. Give them some time and you will probably see allot more action all over the board come the middle and later part of next month. Here is an old picture of a pair of Peruvians breeding at my place. This behavior went on for nearly six months and resulted in nothing. I have however, had pairs " not many but a few " that copulations were observed a few days after introduction and ovulation occured within two weeks after that. The funny thing is; " most of those extreme quick examples occured with Peruvians that I experimented with and did not even introduce them until the middle part of May. " Maybe something to that, I guess I need to try it again in the future. I do not believe that a male in the wild will hang out with a female for months in order to get the job done. It is all about conditioning and timing.......John J

Thanks alot john. appreciate it. ive been told numberous times that peruvians are the hardest to breed. we will just have to see. couple more questions... will the male keep on trying and courting over the span of several months?, or will he lose interest? and if he does lose interest. how do i get him to start courting her again? thanks guys.
Ive had males go at it for months until they finally copulate.

thanks rich. any tips on setting the mood?
No, real tips on setting the mood. It all depends on the individual male himself. Some are presistent and will stop at nothing to get the job done and others will not have as much stamina. Remember, most males will almost stop or completely stop, just prior to ovulation and will definately stop courting after ovulation.......John J
I had a Litter that was born in 12/08/07. 11 live, 1 slug. She was due 111 days from POS. This is the first Peruvian Bcc litter born in sweden and number 3 in Europe.

I tried to breed my peruvians the first time in 2006 when they was about 4 years old. The male bred the female. She ovulated and after that she was just starting to go down to normal. No successful litter that time.
I had the first successful litter in 2007 of my peruvians. I am in another peruvian project this year so my male is breeding another female right now and she looks huge now so that could be a good sign for us
