Can you ID this tiny guy?

ellasmommie Aug 27, 2003 08:54 PM

I found this poor little bugger being terrorized by my dog in the livingroom this evening. As you can see it's just teenie tinnie!!!

A little info...
I'm in Tampa, FL
This little froggie does have toe pads and can climb
it also has ONE HELL OF A JUMP! for such a tiny little bugger.

It now as a skin tear on it's belly from the dog (I would have saved it sooner but I really thought it was a stray cricket and our dog loves chasing and eating them)

Is there a chance I can get it to heal so I can release it again? Should I try to feed it even with the boo boo belly?

And what the heck is it? It doesn't match the little grass frog because it doesn't have the mask through it's eyes. And it doesn't match the photos of any peepers. It doesn't have smooth skin, kind of "gritty" with tiny green, brown and red spots. I will try to get another picture to post but I don't want to kill it with stress.

Hope someone can help! Thanks!!!

Froglets can be tough to identify. I take it he doesn't look like all those little Cubans you were raising? Try keeping him in a moist, but not wet, environment and see if the tear will heal. Maybe a dark, confined enclosure would help, too (to keep him from jumping, which, I wouldn't think would be conducive to a belly skin tear).

Incidently... is your engagement ring on your finger before your wedding band? Traditionaly, it should be the other way around, so your wedding band is closer to your heart.

Definitely not a cuban that's for sure. I've been getting all sorts of "it could be" LOL but no positive ID. I have him on moist paper towel with a small water dish (with rocks in it just in case he goes in) a couple potho clippings and the small tank is in the darker corner of the frog area.

And yes, my engegement ring is on first because we went with... "A promise made (engagement ring) and a promise kept (wedding band)" LOL
