The new reptisuin bulbs 5.o and 10.0 UVA and UVB coil bulbs can be dangerous to the agama lizards if they are too close! be careful if you have one of these bulbs that you read the insert directions before you install it. It comes with a paper that explains how far to keep the light away during it's 2 wk."burn in" time. I didn't have this problem with my uro but with 3 of my beardies. I installed the new reptisun bulbs a few inches too close and they all got this "photo kerato conjunctivitis". Swollen shut eyes and bruised looking eyelids and crustiness..Look it up on yahoo or go to this site to learn more about it:

Of course I ended up taking my beardies to 2 different "exotic" vets and $200 later neither of them had ANY IDEA what it was and just gave them an eye cream... weeks later i read about it on the beardie msg. board and figured it out for myself! I shut the UV lights off for a week and their eyes healed, so be careful of those lights! I told one of the exotic vets about the UV lights causing that and I sent him the article... they had no idea.. *sigh*
