unknown "scale problem"

forkit Feb 26, 2008 01:15 PM

I bought a large female at a show in my area and since I've been checking her during breeding I've noticed that there is bluish-white formations under occasional scales all along her body. they might be the size of 1-2 scales wide and are solid but not hard.I really don't know what to make of this. the other thing that seems more apparent now is "hard" scales. it seems as though her scales are less pressed against her body and instead seem individually put on her body. it's a bit easier to feel the roughness to them than in my other balls of similar size.

any ideas? I'll take her to a vet(I have no camera to help) but I was wondering in anyone knew. injuries? parasites?(esspecially if I have to worry about the others)bad sheds?

Your description sounds like a tick sucking blood from your snake under the snake's scale. Find a magnifying glass and gently lift the scale and see if you have an ectoparasite problem.
