Day 111 Where are they!!

THESNAKEDEN Feb 26, 2008 01:36 PM

We'll this is day 111, raining outside, 90 degrees inside, all conditions have been met, and stll not a thing. I know all you guys have gone over the average time waiting on the little ones, but this is my first litter, been reading and talking breeding now for years. Finally I have a few pairs that have seemed to have taken, and this first one is like torture. Well let me go and stare at my girl some more.lol
Hope eveyones girls are coming along nicely.

Ralph,

Doesn't the wait just kill you? Good luck with her. I am in the same boat.

I had a girl do the same thing to me last year. I spray her with a water bottle a couple times on her 114 day. The next day i woke up to babies.

Good luck!!!

Monty,
What's up on the West Coast. I hear you guys have the all the secrets out there. I saw your girls a few weeks back, hope they all took and your on your way for a good season.
The big girl and that Jeremy DH went at it, all signs pointed to being gravid and now 7 weeks later and multiple days on the cool side I'm assuming she's not. I think I'll throw him back in when they both come out of their shed cycles. Your little het male is with a big striped het female and they seem to be coming along. As for now, I've got this girl making me wait, wish it was the pairing I got from you, but such goes my first season. Learning alot about paitence and perserverance. Also theres only so many things you can do, the rest is up to them.
Take care and good luck.

I feel your pain... I've been there a few times and the wait does get easier but it does not go away... ever. I have come to enjoy the wait, almost. I try not to look forward too hard. It seems to make the time pass faster, and faster is not what I want any more. In my mind I have only lived about maybe 35 years tops. But my birth certificate says I've lived 48 years! It's from too many years of looking forward to stuff yet to come that has made it all go way to fast for my taste. Far too fast... So just try to sit back and enjoy the anticipation of what will VERY VERY likely be a wonderful litter.

My first litter, not coming for a bit over a month, is a nerve racking one. I included a link to a little video I shot of her a while back. I'm trying to relax myself...

Jeff,
Thanks, your right, we rush everything like the work week and winter. Next thing you know it's a new year and your asking yourself "what did I really do with my time" and there goes another year out of this short life we have. Sounds kind of morbid, these damn snakes have me going crazy!!lol I'm 10 yrs your junior and I can't believe where the time has gone.
Sunday was my first time sitting in on a chat, you were great. Kind of tuff preparing the question when called on. You need to be real fast with the keyboard.
That pastel motley in the video you posted looks awesome, and that ovulation from the girl is what everybody needs to see when wondering if the deed is done.
Thanks for your advice,
Ralph

Although the possibility is SLIM to NONE, the possibility always exists that she's holding on to them due to lack of suitable habitat to give birth. If you want to settle your own fear (if you have it like I did last year when my first 2 litters went 120 and 119 days POS), go and buy some cypress mulch (try to find some stuff that has all the dust removed - made for reptiles - if you can) and toss that in the cage on top of your paper substrate. BOTH of my females made nests out of it.
Even if she's not holding on for privacy's sake, the act of making the nest and utilizing it is not only heart-warming, but AMAZING. I HIGHLY recommend it for a first time breeder! It really adds to wow-factor!
Best of luck, she'll probably drop in the next week or so once she starts pacing the cage!

They are where they need to be, when they're ready, then they will come!! Not one thing you can do to change any of that for the better. IMO almost any intervention would be detrimental.

Pace Bro, wear a groove in the floor and keep the camera handy cause one time you will blink and poof, there they are!!!

If the camera is handy you just might get to capture pics like these of my BRB twins:

Dave,
Your right. I've got so much to do with work, kids, wife and house, and yet I can't stop keeping an eye on this girl and a couple of others.
I don't want to miss my first litter, but I know I probably will. After all you do have to get some sleep, right?
Thanks
Ralph

she looks to still have a big mid section swell. when you see her thin out suddenly then it will be time.
