Possible Pre-ovulation swell/ovulation

williamtroutman Feb 26, 2008 03:07 PM

I have a large female ball seen locked with a carpet python. I would like an opinion on whether or not she may be in a preovulation swell, ovulating, or gravid....fairly new to breeding and purchased from local friend and Iwould like opinions on what she is showing... significant change over last 3 days or so.

I dont think so...sorry. It could be the pics, but I dont think so.

This is what it looks like, see the very large swelling before the tail, but in the bottome third.

I just reread and the Carpet Python part sunk in. I am not sure if that type of cross has been done or not? Let me know how you make out. I am not a big fan of hybrids myself, but let me know if it works out for you.

If this link works http://74.220.207.106/~moreliap/forums/showthread.php?s=827427d1fd0a1a022fb63d463757cf9a&t=18180

Ps. Theyre pretty cool looking too!

They are pretty awesome... thanks!

I still am unsure about the whole cross breeding thing...though?

With the pythons it seems like just a different step to take in the creation of that 'designer' morph. Those snakes couldn't be marketed as anything other than some kind of hybrid, same as the ball python x angolan, or the ball python x ...I think borneo short tailed python? Blood python? Something like that. They just don't look right, and no one would try to market them as anything other than what they are.

If you're looking for a cool snake, they'd be interesting additions, but since in this aspect of the python world we don't have the focus on localities and subspecies like other aspects of the reptile hobby does... Not too big a deal when it's a ball python cross.
I can see a big deal arising with different subspecies of pythons or boas being crossed and not looking much different (look at the boa constrictors!), but ball pythons are ball pythons are ball pythons.

A cross between a ball and a womma. I saw it at the Arlington expo this past weekend. I don't remember who had it displayed, but it looked VERY similar to the ball jungle cross.
