Ball Python Question?

thespunkygecko Feb 26, 2008 03:28 PM

I purchased a female normal ball python on 2/2/08. I brought her home, set her up in her house and fed her the following:

2/3/08-2 live med. mice
2/10/08-2 f/t med. mice
2/17/08-1 f/t med. mouse (refused the f/t rat pup offered after the mouse)
2/24/08-offered 1 f/t med. mouse-refused

I saw on 2/20/08 that she was going to shed and increased the humidity in her cage. She shed today (2/26/08). It was a complete shed-eyecaps and all.

My questions lies in the fact that she has yet to produce any urates or feces. I was expecting the "motherload" with her shed and there was none found.

Is this normal for them to go without having any urates or feces for this long? I am afraid of impaction or even worse some sort of infection.

When I purchased her I was under the impression that the person we bought her from was reputable and have since found out otherwise. I am almost afraid to find out what the person was feeding her.

She has become a very important part of our family and I really don't want anything to happen to her.

Any suggestions or Advice?

It does seem odd that she didn't go with her shed BUT I wouldn't panic just yet. Pet stores often "maintainance feed". In otherwords, just enough to keep them alive. If this was the case your snake may just not be ready to go. One thing you can try is soaking her. This often has the same effect as a hand in warm water .

I eat human infants. They, like everything else, taste like chicken. What?
