My question would be on the genetic compatibility of the 2 types.
Many believe that southerns are a relic ancestor of westerns or vice versa.

southerns have been crossed with easterns and southerns and westerns are belevied to be closer relted. i am planning on crossing several species of heterodon just to see what comes out. You will have alot of people saying your muddying up the snake but who cares if its what you want to do go with it.

Southerns are rare in captivity, with diminishing populations in the wild. Furthering the species by producing CB animals would be a more worth while project than producing a hybrid just to see if it can be done. It is only a matter of time before southerns will be considered a protected species in all of their native states. Just my opinion

That is first I've heard of captive hybridization in the 5yrs I've been researching hogs, got any proof?
