why do they

doomgod1234 May 22, 2003 09:34 PM

my geckos developed a rather bad habit of eating the vermiculite that was in the egg box. why would they do this. their stools contain quite a bit until i removed the box. one female even seemed to slow down on eating so i gave her a dropper of oil water mix to clean out any that might have gotten stuck(she is fine now)
they have plenty of the calcium in their cage and when i had sand they never even remotly ate it. anyone else have geckos that do this

I had this problem. So I added bigger, more full calcium dishes. Also I increased thier treats of calcium dusted pinkies. Not sure what did the trick, but those that I had the problem with have stopped eating vermiculite and been more into their crickets.
