hey, i have a male bd in a 50 gal right by my bed. every morning he will reach up and scratch the glass, scrabbling at it like he's trying to get ou or something. he dos it to all sides of the glass, but more torwards the widow and the female in the tank next to him. is this normal? does it mean anything? or is it just the most annoying thing ever? also, whats a normal amount of crickets for an adult male dragon to eat a day?

It sounds like he is just trying to get at the female to breed. It is very normal.

As far as feeding goes, there is no real "normal" amount of crickets for him to eat, most dragons will eat different amounts, just feed him as much as he will eat in about a 10 min. period of time.

my beardies always slow their eating amounts during winter months and once they're mature at a year. Adult beardies eat less than juvies. It depends on the individual beardies size, weight and body build , they are all different. I have some that are lanky and slender build and others that are "husky" or "stocky" i'd say. My adult males may eat 5-10 crix one day and then refuse to eat any crix for the next 3 to 4 days. Another male I have will not want to eat for a week at a time and then he'll ravenously eat. Some like veggies more than bugs. Keep in mind that adults should get more veggies than bugs .. I only give my adults bugs 2- 3 times a week, so every other day or every 2 days.. and sometimes the adults DONT want ANY! It's good when they get older b/c you spend much less $ on feeders than you do if you have a bunch of little ones!
So if I'd have to say somethin specific i'd say 10 large crix or supers, every 2 days and veggies/greens every day. I feed mine as much as they want usually. they stop when they're full. Unless they're getting fat then I reduce what I let them eat. I had one that i used to have to make diet she was soo fat.

hope this helps, -- kristen
