Our Morning Surprise

toshamc Feb 27, 2008 11:13 AM

Well not too much of a surprise - she was playing contortionist all day yesterday - I figured she was going to lay any minute. Sure enough she was sitting on eggs this morning.

Now that we got the first clutch out of the way - we can move on to the good stuff!!!

Thank you!!! Actually these are just normals - since my clutches don't usually hatch until summer I picked up a Gravid WC so the eggs could be incubated by my sons kindergarten class. Unfortunately, now I get the pleasure of dealing with her parasites. But just having one clutch on the ground sure is a relief - even if it's not really one of mine.

I was thinking about maybe setting up an egg hatching display at my sons school, but it seems like I always get eggs after May - June and then school is out..

I bought a couple Praying Mantis eggsacs from a garden center one year and made a display in a 5gallon tank. This was for his daycare during the summer(he was only about 4) and about 500-1000 tiny mantis babies hatched out.

The teacher was cool but she was freaked out and called me right away to take them home. My son was the big hit with all the kids over this...

Your son with freakin' Python eggs his mom brought in should get treated like a rock star!

Good for you, that is really nice.
