Female pre-mate shed prior to male?

ADWE Feb 27, 2008 01:02 PM

i just noticed last night that my female is just going into blue and my male hasn't shown any signs of blue yet. They were brought out at the same time and was under the impression that the male would shed a week or two before the female? anyone have this happen and what was the ultimate outcome? should i put them togehter once she sheds or wait til the male sheds?
My gut instinct is to put them together once she sheds because in nature they wouldn't have all this percise planning involved. Let me know what you think!

once she sheds put them together because if she is ready then the male will be once he gets a few sniffs of her pheramones.

males shed when ever. I never pay much attention to it. Once the female sheds, the male will be interested. A lot of the time, he will be interested even if he is in blue, himself!

Thanks for reaffirming my thoughts. When i got home last night you could already see his interest in breeding, i had smoothed over all of the substrate(coco fibre) and when i took a look last night, there were trails all through it. so i guess this means it's gonna be go time soon!!!

Also, remember that you have pleanty of time to get your animals to breed.. As Misty said, some males will breed prior to shed some will wait till after. I even have some snakes that wait until after their second post hibernation shed to breed..

Either way it works!
