For those who have bred BCC

ramonesfan Feb 27, 2008 01:56 PM

I understand that BCC are more difficult to regularly breed than BCI, but does the problem seem more related to the females or the males?

Since you'll need one of each, what does it matter?

there just seems to be a lot of BCI X BCC out there...was wondering if these people are using male BCC or female.

given those choices, I would use BCC male...males will usually want to breed...anything.

It is not that B.C.C. are hard to breed, it is that B.C.C. are a little more misunderstood on what it takes " too be able to breed them with success. " Guys, like Gus Renfro have been unbelievable at their success rate with production of B.C.C. You can hear many theories, but with every theory come s the burden of proof. My few successes with B.C.C. came when I realized one thing that was in a long list of understandings but maybe the most important of them all; " you cannot raise them like B.C.I. and try to get a quick result. " You have to raise them slowly and not try to breed them too early. In the past, the close I got to Spring with my introductions, the better results I got and the faster ovulation would occur after witnessed copulations. It is hard without writing a book, how to describe all of the things to not only do, but also to look for. However, these things have to come to you after years of dedication to the Species and doing allot of observing. Most successful breeders will feed you milk, but will never give you solid food on just EXACTLY what they do in order to be successful, why should they? In reality, it has been their years of hard work and dedication that has brought them to the point of success and why should they open the box of truth for someone to learn over night? In time, with love and dediction you will find out what works for these animals to bless you with all of the little squigglies that we all love, but one must also walk the rocky road that our breeding hero's have walked and pay our dues as they have. No streets of gold in this Hobby, just time and effort and learning.........John J
