can tortoises yawn??

lilmorton1 Feb 28, 2008 06:40 AM

I'm just wondering because sometimes in the morning, it really looks like she is yawning. i wake my redfoot up as i'm cleaning up her tank a bit and changing the water and feeding her and misting the tank first thing in the morning and it looks like she is a little sleepy and then she "yawns" a couple times, then she'll usually get up and eat. Is she really yawning??
just curious

Can Geese fly????... Does a bear $hit in the woods???... Sorry, couldn't resist.

Yea... tortoises yawn and quite frequently. Check out the cover photo of the TFH Russian Tortoise Book... I hate that picture.

Here's my guy, waking from a rest on a rug with his buddy, my partner. Funny as heck when the tort struts over and bites the pads on the paws of the sleeping German Shepherd.
