Definitely see a vet. Your snake needs antibiotics.

i thought there was a way to treat it at home? im really going through some tough financial times. i can get the extra money but if i could just skip the vet and buy the meds direct it would make things easier.

Raise the temperature a few degrees and apply Polysporin first aid cream daily until cured. (Polysporin is available over the counter in drug stores.) Richard Ross, who is one of the authors of the Reproductive Husbandry of Pythons and Boas, recommended this a number of years ago, and it worked for me. I am told that it does not always work, depending on the pathogen. Adding some vitamin C to the food may also help. Good luck.

Jake,You think? What do you see when you look in it's mouth? Should look like small white cottage cheezy lookin' spots wedged in the roof of the mouth. Antibiotics are almost necessary for mouth rot. Do you have any betadine solution? You might be able to find some online. If not you'll have to get it from the vets.

Pick out the infection with tweezers or something but not to the point you'll draw blood. Them swab the area with the betadine. reapply the betadine two or three times a day and remove any recurring subatance as it comes in.

I lost my first ball 18 years ago to mouth rot, so if you don't think it's clearing up find a way to afford the vet.

Get them at your friendly neighborhood drugstore. Both are over-the-counter. Try the topical first aid cream section. Betadine is available in both cream and liquid versions, or was the last time I looked, which has been a few years now. The cream is great for external use on snakes. I've never tried the liquid but would guess that this is preferable for mouth rot. Polysporin is a cream.
