my sulcata enclosure

virmilion Aug 27, 2003 10:45 PM

Well here it is in its infantcy... I will eventually plant this enclosure with grass, and other edible plants for my little guy. pretty basic but she seems to love the extra room, quite a step up from a rubbermaid tub.

There is a hill on one end to get her a little more exposure to the sun and for added excersize and to keep it from being flat and boring.

off to a good start. Make sure there's an escape method for
rain if it starts pouring and water can get under there. I had
a wooden frame pen like that at our old house and in a downpour
the thing was filling up big time, luckily teddy (tiny at the
time) found a hill though he was surrounded by water and I was
able to get to him in time (we were at Lowe's and I went racing
back home in the huge thunderstorm).

Yeah I thought of that too. What I did was mix in about half and half with the dirt that was there with sand, so it drains alot better then before, also the hill(where she is sitting in the pic)comes up about 1/2-2/3 the height of the walls so it would have to be a pretty big storm for it to fill up enough to drown her. I am going to build a tortoise table inside for the winter though so she wont have much access to rain...
