Chondro Egg Incubation Temps

Todd Smith Mar 01, 2008 07:02 AM

I've read a variety of temperature ranges depending upon whether maternal or artificial incubation is used, so I'd like to hear from some practical experience as well. What is a good range to incubate at from Day 1 to hatching using artificial incubation?

Thanks,

~Todd

Some people measure egg surface temps.. some egg box temp and some incubator temps.

Currently im using 87.5 (incubator temps)

In my experience and opinion temps above 87.1 to 87.3 < incubator temps> require some means of embryo heat management.
Meaning use of vermiculite, spacing out eggs in a larger no substrate egg box, or less eggs per box.
What I have found to work the best in my set up is 87.1 incubator/main chamber temps with about 10 eggs per 8" x 8" egg box.
I space out the eggs so they do not contact any other eggs and have about an inch of air space all the way around.
Hope that helps.
