Here's a typical summer stumper - bad view of snake. Actually, this is a diagnostic view, particularly for this subspecies. Anyone know it?

I will take a wild guess and say Mexican Racer, Coluber constrictor oaxaca.
Blue Racer(Coluber constrictor foxi)?

That is actually a DOR of the very poorly known subspecies of Orizaba cribo Drymarchon melanurus orizabensis. It was about 5 feet long.
The view is "diagnostic" in that other cribos/indigos in eastern Mexico wouldn't have that steely gray ventral coloration.

Holy moly! I wouldn't have gone there in a million years! Now that I know what it is, however, I can see the facial striping and it makes sense.
