there are a few cliques but I dont let it bother me because I realize most of them that are good with each other like that actually communicate as friends outside of kingsnake and most have met each other or been to each others houses. this is thier work so to speak so they need to keep getting new and better things is all. Cant sell commodore 64s in a highspeed world.

Thanks again.. I understand...

It does seem that way sometimes. We've all got to start somewhere, huh? Good people here mostly. Just a lot of very high end guys that have been at it a long time.
You did a good thing, of course. Chances are real good that snake will need more than just a warm up, as mentioned. Make sure to keep it away from any established snakes you already have. Practice good hygiene and quarantine procedures. Good luck.

Thanks thats what i did or trying 2 do. i put him in the other side of house and i always wash hands thoroly before handling any other snakes after dealing with him. I was realy worried about contaminating my snakes with him being in the house, but i had 2 do it..

You did make a good decision. It will be better after you get her 100% healthy.I don't say hardly anything on this site.Years ago(20 )you never heard of any of these so called long tmers.

yup-- sounds all too familiar.
We've gotten several calls similar to this recently-- we had an ice storm back in Dec-- before xmas-- we had no power for 9 days-- we got some 18 animals in after the storm-- all with nasty RI's-- people took off to hotels and relatives and left thier reptiles to die...

Did a good thing-- good job on the quarantine-- and i even change shirts or jackets when i mess with things like that--- i have several lab coats that i got from the community college- they're supposed to be disposable, cost about 2 $ and i wash them-- work great-- make me feel clean when i go from sick animal to healthy animal...

i'm always happy to see that someones gotten a good animal out of a bad situation!

Sounds like that boa needed saving.

So, how did you end up with it? Did the guy give it to you? You said he was a jerk, and going by how he kept that boa, I'm sure he is. So, how did you get the boa from the jerk.

camoman Mar 02, 2008 09:41 AM

He Felt bad because he knew he was killing it, and he asked me a couple times if i wanted it but i said no... I told him what 2 do but he never listened...Then recently he told me tanked cracked dew 2 hot and cold temp, so i went there 2 see,and the tank was 40-45.. Snake was like ice... I couldent let him die ,so i rescued him....Probably was in those temps for almost a week..Hard 2 beleive huh.. Garage in winter is not the best place for a boa of any type...

either way that is still animal cruelty. They should look at reptiles the same way they do cats and dogs!. I'm sure in his own way the snake thanks you!. I believe leaving a snake in the cold, is the same as any *torture* that can be put on any animal. Just my opinion. Thanks Daniel.
