Gravid?

Does this girl look full to you? She has been with Mack since late October. They started off sluggish at the beginning but picked up thru November. All thru December and January they went wild courting and a few copulations were witnessed (and filmed) in mid to late January. Then all of a sudden he stopped and nothing happened since Feb 7 thru Feb 20 at which time I noticed Mack blueing up. I separated them and fed Jackie on the 20th so that Mack could shed in peace. After returning him fresh from a shed he still made no effort to court her. Then I noticed that she looked a little drab and so I lifted her tail only to notice she was blueing up herself on Feb 26. This is her just now on Mar 2. She has been temping in the 85° range and hasn't really been seeking the heat. But there has been 11 days since her last meal of a large rat and she hadn't eated before that since late October.

Probably not. It is typical to see females in that type of position and B.C.C. are notorious for it. Females especially in a shed will at times look swollen, but it usually results in nothing at all. The more ovulations and pre-ovulations that you witness, then the less likely you are to fall for their little moments of unclarity. Sounds like thngs are looking good for her and if she stays true to most B.C.C. ovulations, then she should ovulate around May or June, wich is usually more the rule, then the exception. Here is an old picture of a breeding female doing the same thing.......John J
