I'm Completely Baffled......

Sunshine Mar 02, 2008 09:19 AM

...very weird thing just happened. I woke up and let the dogs out this am and on the way to the door I find several cats staring at a half-dead baby (like a newborn) BRB laying on the floor in the living room. I have no idea where it came from. All the babies I had last year have been gone since Sept and I haven't bought any. The only thing I can figure is someone had it and I didn't know. Maybe it escaped through the hole for the thermostat probe? No other babies that I can find...no one should have been able to give birth at this odd time without being bred. Weird...maybe there will be more?? Anyway, the baby doesn't have visible wounds and looks a little better than it did an hour ago. I just set it up to proper temp/humidity and will leave it be and see what happens.

Have a nice day everyone!
Linda

Hi Linda,
The only plausible explanation that comes to mind is you had an escapee from last years litter that somehow found a place in your home with high enough humidity to keep it hydrated and maybe caught a lizard during this time to keep it going. The cats found it somewhere and, being cats, wanted to show you what they found. Really, really cool. If it was me, I'd find room to keep this one!
Let us know how it does.

Well that's an interesting scenario. I would think you had a neonate escape last year somehow before you got count on one of your litters. It most certainly didn't grow on a tree, they don't do that either lol.

I once fell from a 50' tree with many branches that slowed my decent and landed directly on my back on a large rock...

My best friend said...Dude are you ok ?...

I said...Give me 5 minutes...

"No sir...I didn't like it..." R&S.

LOL

that is truly amazing how that happened it must have been from a clutch last year and it got out!!

very lucky though i would keep it just because!

Linda,
...There is the possibility that the snake is a single baby that was just recently laid. Does it look like it has a chubby gut like newborn ones often have or does it look thin like it has been around for awhile without a meal?
