Need Honduran Milk Snake Care Sheet.

JasonMc Aug 28, 2003 01:46 AM

I have purchased some beautiful tangerine hondurans that I am still waiting for. Like a fool I assumed that they would be housed like mexican milksnakes. But after some actual thinking I came to realize that they come from two very different regions. Do I cool them for 4 months in the low 50s? I have a feeling I don't. Also what would be a good size vision cage to put them in as adults? I'd like to house them separatly. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
Thanks: Jason

cooling for 2 1/2 - 3 mos at 60 is fine. an adult can be under 4' or over 6' (usually closer to 4- 4 1/2 ft until they get 4-5 yrs old) so standard rack systems with sweater boxes suffice generally except for the larger animals. I don't know vision specs, sorry. You must house them separately.

You might also want to get a copy of the sept 2002 reptiles magazine with the article on Honduran milksnakes, lots of information there.

Thanks for the advice. I will pull that reptiles magazine out of the archives.
