Can you post a picture?
What brand and type (compact or linear) UVB light are you using?
Hi Morgaine,
Chameleons are easily stressed and very sensitive to their care and environment. Usually the first sign of trouble is the eyes. I would bring him to an exotic vet with cham experience.
In the meantime, going over his care with us or other chameleon people may pinpoint possible flaws to be corrected in care.
Something's are very important with cham's; humidity, hydration, privacy, proper nutrition, varied diet. They're very sensitive to vitamins and sometimes it's better to err on the side of caution.
Did you know that besides bugs they will often eat fresh veggies and fruits from a bowl.
One more note; While they need plants for privacy, some are poisonous and may leak sap which can cause eye irritations.
Hope this helps!

when you spray your Cham, avoid spraying him in the eyes. Keep it below the neck.

although i mainly stick to beardies and leos now, i had a juvinile veiled for almost 6 months. He was doing great untill his eyes started swelling under his eyes. take him to the vet. it sounds to me like he has an upper resp. infection. if u catch it early enough its fixable. so get it there as soon as you can. unfortunatly for my chameleon ajax, i didnt catch the infection early enough and he died from the infection spreading to the rest of his body. sorry for the horror story, get him to the vet asap.
