vivarium help for my new beardy (bit long)

gary1 Aug 28, 2003 04:37 AM

someone i know recently left the country and couldnt take her pets with her, she tried all the local pet shops and herp owners she knew, inluding myself but was having no luck finding homes, i had no space or money but i took both her corn snake and beardie cos i couldnt let them go to someone who might not care for them properly

the corns viv is a great size for him but the beardies is way to small. he seems very healthy and well looked after other than this. i have hols and a new car to pay for but i really want to upgrade his home but it will need to be done fairly cheap, i can get decent size large fish tanks from local petshop and wanted to make him a viv outta this.

my 1st problem is i have no idea what to do about a screen cover for sitting my lights on and stopping escapes. can anyone give me advice on how i can go about this, can they be bought to size from somewhere (i stay in scotland, uk) or can someone give me advice on making one
ive seen pic of peoples tanks on here before using tanks without doors but never really took in how the screen was made, oops

Bearded dragons aren't the greatest climbers, so depending on what other pets you have, it might not be necessary. I think the easiest way to make a screen is to nail or screw for pieces of wood together to make a screen and "staple" the mesh to is. Stretched out of course.

If you want to go the no screen route and use the old equipment, you can get two pieces of wood and lay them across the top of the aquarium and set the lighting on them.
